Trommel review:

"Silverlining returns with the next instalment of the Neotropiq series. So far the London artist has featured on each release in one way or another and the third is no different. This time the man behind the Dubs takes full control for his first solo EP on the platform, celebrating 25 years in the game.

Neotropiq started with a repress of the 1996 belter that is ‘System Error’. Two Right Wrongans aka Silverlining & Nathan Coles found themselves having to reissue this for a second time it was that much in demand. Safe to say this label is a space for the gems.

The funky, acidic bassline of ‘Coral Snake’ determines not just the groove but the melodies too. A blend of electro and house, the beat is a quirky one complimented by tapping percussion. Hi-hats and cymbals playfully drop in and out with the bass while cool, clipped samples scatter on the top.

Bouncy synths dominate the breakdown, a stripped back centre that leaves you almost forgetting about the groove you were just listening to. But then it drops back in and you can get back to dancing.

‘Harlequin’ over on the A side is deeper and more mysterious, with an abundance of melody. The drums are clean cut and the synths offer darker undertones. A serious side but equally as groovy. ‘Kewakagroove-B’ on B2 combines all the above with some timely placed vocals and the result is a dancefloor bomb."
